5/7/2011- Robert Stempel, former Chairman and CEO of General Motors, died in Florida at the age of 77. Known for being a great engineer, Stempel helped develop technologies including front-wheel-drive cars, the catalytic converter and battery-powered cars. He is survived by his wife and three children.
